Meet Our team

In order to address the inequities of the disadvantaged and marginalized, Jacqueline Smith, a visionary, founded AWE and is an advocate for domestic violence. She is concerned about the neighborhood and is a firm believer in the effectiveness of early detection and action. Her religious convictions as an ordained pastor led her to believe that healing encompasses all three realms-physical, spiritual and mental. She has over 25 years of administrative skills and 18 years of management, grant budgeting and account reconciliation experience. She is a licensed life coach, community healthcare worker, and is pursuing a bachelor's degree in psychology at the University of Louisville. Jacqueline has years of expertise mentoring women and men, as well as teenagers, leading them with wisdom and giving them direction. In the leadership of others, she emphasizes, "Without unity, there is no community." She thrives with the passion to see others succeed. It is her determination to bring change to her community one person at a time.

Minister Linda Wallace is a high- energy, solution focused program management professional grant writer with over 20 years of dynamic leadership skills, experience, and a proven history of resolving complex programs using innovation, a wide variety of resources, and a specialized ability to complete programs and project tasks on schedule and within budget. She coordinate pre/post award functions for the highly technical contracting work, emphasizing requirements and relationships to achieve results that further the interests of sponsors, clients, and community based organizations. Her ministry is about empowering others to reach their fullest potential. 

Rose Penman serves as our outreach worker. She is very knowledgeable about various community resources to help advise at-risk populations of people. Rose tracks and monitors the needs of low-income, at-risk, transitional, and recovering individuals and families, as well as providing guidance, counseling and support. She received her Associate of Arts in Juvenile Justice Studies as well as her Bachelor of Health Sciences in Child and Family Studies degrees from Eastern Kentucky University.

Charlotte serves as AWE's liasion within the community we serve to further AWE's mission. She is a certified community healthcare worker. She conducts targeted outreach and facilitates access to prevention workshops for under-served high risk populations. As a key component, Charlotte continues relationship building and engaging skills with youth to make positive changes in their lives. In her spare time, she is very active in lobbying for the opioid crisis and health care changes.
